The long-awaited moment has finally arrived. After a night flight, the TEC students participating in a 3-week summer camp in Australia have safely landed in Melbourne!
We got on the bus to the city center, walked along the Yarra River and had lunch nearby. In the afternoon, the host came to take us back to the homestay because the first week we would experience living with a local family.
DAY 2
On the second morning of the trip, the children completed the placement test and attended the Orientation session (orientation, setting goals for the study tour, instructions on classroom rules and how to behave outside of school to ensure personal safety: using public transport, what to do when lost, etc.). The program will provide the children with knowledge and skills to help them be confident in communication, awaken their leadership potential and integrate into life in Australia.
After the lesson, the children will go on a tour of the school, have lunch, the hosts have prepared meals for the children. In the afternoon, the children will move to the Botanic gardens, explore the diversity of flora here and visit the sacred Shrine.
DAY 3
The children are guided to listen actively, show attention when listening to the other person, encourage taking risks, and eliminate shyness when communicating. Most of the children were quite shy at the beginning. However, after the warm-up, the children confidently discussed with their group members, talking about simple life topics. The progress can be seen more clearly when the children start a short 1-minute presentation. Parents, please see the photos of this morning here.
In the afternoon, we went to Chesfield Farm in Scoresby, about 45 minutes drive from Melbourne Central. Here, the children were able to feed the animals: deer, goats, camels… and experience milking cows themselves. And of course, when coming to Australia, you cannot miss Kangaroo. A day of fun outdoor activities!
DAY 4: MELBOURNE MUSEUM
After the morning class, this afternoon we visited the Melbourne Museum, one of the most famous museums and tourist attractions in Australia, located in the north of Melbourne city center, next to the Royal Exhibition Building.
The Melbourne Museum is not only a natural, cultural, historical museum but also a combination of the past, present and future with art, fashion, multimedia exhibitions, etc.
The children got to see with their own eyes the life-sized Blue Whale skeleton, giant dinosaur skeleton models, precious stones, learn about flora and fauna, the origin and evolution of life in Victoria…
