OSHC is committed to providing the same coverage as Australians receive from Medicare (the public health system for Australian citizens and permanent residents).
In addition, OSHC will help international students access private hospital and day surgery, emergency ambulance services, pharmaceutical benefits, with specific information as follows:
1. Out-of-hospital medical treatment
Medical services provided by a general practitioner (customers will receive the full (100%) cost as listed in the Medicare-MBS Schedule of Benefits).
All other medical services such as general health checks and X-rays (including health care specialists), up to 85% of the cost as listed in the MBS.
2. General hospital examination and treatment
Hospital examination and treatment: 85% of the cost as listed in the MBS.
3. Public Hospital Charges
Public Hospital: Customers are entitled to general hospital or private accommodation in a hospital hostel, day care, emergency and post-operative services for patients and outpatients.
Charges are charged in accordance with the State and Territory health. authority responsible for services charged to a patient who is not an Australian citizen or permanent resident.
4. Private Hospital Charges
Private Hospital/Registered Day Hospital Facility: 100% of the cost of all insurable charges covered by the contracted hospital with a minimum of a general ward hospital.
5. Prescription Medicines
For any medicine prescribed by a doctor, customers will receive 100% of the cost as prescribed under the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme-PBS
Up to a maximum of $50 for any prescribed item.
Maximum $300 per member per year.
Maximum $600 per family member, $300 per person.
6. Ambulance
Ambulance services: 100% of the cost of transport when this service is required for an emergency.
7. Cosmetic surgery
Surgical implants: 100% of the cost of items listed in the Australian Prosthetics List as regulated by the Australian Federal Government.
